SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT POSITION

We are seeking a Senior Communications Consultant to support a government contract.  This is a full-time position with benefits.

Qualifications:  

  • Candidate must be US citizen (or be able to prove the right to work in the US for an extended period of time).
  • Must successfully pass a thorough background check as a condition of employment; however, security clearance is not required.

Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience as a communications professional in a federal agency
  • Has developed (or helped to develop) and executed a communications strategy involving multiple vehicles
  • Has developed communications collateral for federal clients – this may include flyers, internet site content, talking points, messaging, speeches, etc.  (Note that graphic design support is provided for this position.)
  • Experience writing articles and designing communications collateral
  • Experience collaborating with communications professionals across an agency

Position Responsibilities:

Candidate will serve as Senior Communications Consultant with responsibilities that include:

  • Work directly for federal project lead and federal communications manager to support program communications within a division
  • Ability to distill highly technical information to plain language
  • Ability to work with highly technical people and executives
  • Experience using a communications strategy to gain buy-in and collaboration across a federal agency
  • Ability to work in a highly charged political environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Expert PowerPoint skills required
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively meet project deadlines

What You Will Be Doing:

Design and develop communications collateral and strategy to include:

  • Execute existing communications plan
  • Work autonomously and with graphic design support to deliver newsletters, flyers, booklets and more
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary agency team on communications messaging and to identify communications support needed to implement program
  • Meet with federal team lead and federal communications lead to provide status, review deliverables, and create shared communications strategy
  • Develop PowerPoint briefings for executive audiences
